A product of the Southern Railway's pre-cast concrete factory at Exmouth Junction. Originally manufactured in the 1930s in their thousands, a large number can still be found today.

Used to support a fairly narrow staff access platform adjacent to a siding. The length of the staff platform can vary from quite short - to access the cab of a locomotive or multiple unit - or the whole length of the siding or train, frequently with access steps at one or both ends. Plasticard can be used to make the platform itself which lies on top of the supports.
