L26: DOLLY TUB WITH LID AND WASHING DOLLY Precursor to the washing machine. In use until the 1940s. The Wash Dolly or Dolly Peg went under numerous names with regional variations including possers and peggy legs, none of which make the (usually) weekly task of doing the family wash any less arduous. With the advent of washing machines these items and especially the galvanised tubs have become collectors items - often used to grow flowers, for decoration or simply as curiosities.
