S24: EARLY TELEPHONE KIOSK K1

Introduced in 1921, this was the first standard telephone box. It was made from concrete with curly finial on the roof. There were variations in the design and in the way they were painted. A few of these boxes survive. The photograph on the right shows a K1 box at Tunbridge Wells Cricket Ground in Summer 2016.
